Event Planning: It's As Simple as 1, 2, 3 is a half day version of the longer "How to Plan a Top-Notch Event" workshop. The workshop provides a crash course on the steps to plan an event in a format that helps participants to remember the three essential steps to planning a successful event. Participants learn to:
• Identify the life cycle of an event
• Understand the components of a successful planning timeline that can be modified for all event types
• Determine the 3 essential things to remember when planning an event.
• Review steps to take when the planning falls behind
• Use a process to stay on track with what needs to be done and who’s responsible for which tasks
• Develop ways to work effectively with facility staff

How to Plan A Top-Notch Event is a 1.5 day mini course which provides information on the essential steps to plan an event. On the first day participants learn to:
• Identify the life cycle of an event
• Define the event scope and select a strategy to ensure the success of the event
• Develop S.M.A.R.T. objectives and a realistic event timeline
• Understand the components of a successful planning timeline that can be modified for all event types
• Determine what steps to take when the planning falls behind
• Use a process to stay on track with what needs to be done and who’s responsible for which tasks
• Develop ways to work effectively with facility staff
The second day participants can ask specific questions concerning their event woes and receive one-on-one advice.

C.H.E.A.P. (Creative & Handy Essentials for Academic Programs) is a half day course for departments faced with cutting budgets for their special events. Information provided will give academic event planners creative strategies to cut costs without sacrificing the quality of the event experience. Participants learn how to:
• Create decorations for $10 or less
• Shop stores that have the best deals for flowers, vases, etc.
• Think more creatively, even if it is not their personality type
• Use three simple steps that be remembered long after the workshop
• Keep essential items in stock to avoid purchasing/renting the same items over and over
• Determine where in the budget is worth cutting costs and when it is not
• Share costs with other units and/or departments which will reduce overall cost
