
Lynne Shivers is a project and event manager, author, and speaker. She has more than 30 years experience in planning successful events for academic institutions, special interest groups and religious organizations.
Lynne retired from the University of Michigan in 2012 after an impressive thirty-year employment career. She is a highly-skilled event manager and sought after consultant with expertise in conceptualizing, planning, implementing and evaluating large-scale events. Some events she has planned include: new graduate student orientations, graduate student commencement receptions, high profile events with celebrities and prolific speakers, major single and multi-day conferences, Big Ten events, centennial programs, awards ceremonies and semester-long speaker series. In addition, she has provided consultation to academic units and national organizations in the planning and implementation of their major events. Lynne has served on national and local event planning benchmarking committees. She is a past president of the University of Michigan University Event Planners (UEP), an organization with more than 1,000 members. Lynne has received numerous awards in leadership and distinguished service. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Bowie State University and a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Michigan.
Lynne says she was born to plan events, which is why she started her own business, P.E.A.C.E.ful Events Planning Services (PEPS). Her mission is to help others plan their events by reducing the amount of stress that is a natural part of the planning process. She incorporates her many years of experience to ensure each event is successful by treating it as if it was her own. Her motto is, "It's got to be right the first time because you never reach the same people on your second attempt."
Lynne is a regular instructor at the University of Michigan and Michigan State University Human Resource Development offices where she teaches workshops and mini courses on event planning for staff and faculty.
